Chris asks…

what are some good exercises for my dog?

My dog Buddy, is an 11 year old golden retriever. He is very sweet but also, lazy, overweight and does not have very good joints. he loves to go on walks, but gets very tired out easily. I need some good exercises for him that wont put to much stress on his joints. I would also like some tips on how to control his weight. I want him to be healthy and add a couple more years onto his life. Pleas help! 🙂

Congratulations for caring about your dogs health. 🙂 This is absolutely wonderful of you. Since he loves to go for walks, start there. Take him for a short walk, what ever he’s comfortable with, 2-3 times a day. The exercise will actually be good for his joints, and burning those extra calories will take a load off as well.

I realize this is a bit of an expense, but I’ve seen miracles worked on dozens of aging dogs with the dog food I’ve linked below. Dogs who were old and arthritic have transformed over the period of about a large bag of dog food, into much more limber animals.

It’s not rated high because it is grain based (I’m not a big fan there, my dogs eat orijen) but it does work. I’ve seen it work on senior dogs too many times to deny that. As long as your dog doesn’t have allergies, it’s fine.

You can cut back a moderate amount of your dogs food to help with the weight loss, and between that and increased exercise you should see a slim down. 🙂
