Nancy asks…

How to dress like Judy Garland?

Were having a wax museum coming up and since Judy garland is one of my role models I decided to do her for it
Any ideas on clothes and hair? Ive seen pics of her when she was younger(in the 40s) and I really like her hair and clothes but I’m a little confused on what to wear.

Here are some tips:

Young Judy

The look: Flirtatious, innocent, with long hair and bangs. Bottle of amphetamines tucked in purse for weight loss is optional.

Dress: A voluminous frock.

Suggested signature line: “Personally, I think I have too much bloom. Maybe that’s the trouble with me.” (As the character Esther Smith from Meet Me in Saint Louis)

Glamorous Judy

The look: Bold, svelte, with sparkling eyes and pixieish hair. An old-school cocktail as accompanying prop.

Dress: Definitely a hat with a powerful dance ensemble to go with.

Suggested signature line: “I was born at the age of 12 on a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer lot.”

Boozy/Floozy Judy

The look: Almost put-together, but not quite; faded; large sunglasses to hide the bloodshot eyes. Much younger man on arm is best prop.

Dress: Some fur is in order, and a big coat, too.

Signature line: “If I’m such a legend, then why am I so lonely? Let me tell you, legends are all very well if you’ve got somebody around who loves you.”

TV Special Judy

The look: Housewifey with a dash of flair and modness thrown in. Hair should look like a wig, even if it isn’t. Thin mike optional.

Dress: Circa 1967 rayons and polyesters with swirling patterns. Hideous pantsuit.

Suggested signature line: “If you have to be in a soap opera try not to get the worst role.”
