How do I loose some tummy fat before summer?

I would really love to loose a little tummy fat before summer! It’s not that I’m… fat, I just have a little extra from winter. I would love suggestions and tips to loose some! Also, I only want home-remedies, and not memberships, medications, etc. Please help! Thanks so much to all that answer! 🙂

All the doctors and food experts say targeted weight loss is unlikely, specifically in the waist and belly areas, but I managed it with acai berry. I realize they say that pills won’t work, but they certainly worked for me, and they have been featured on the Rachael Ray Show too. There is a free trial going on right now at , try it, what’s the worst that could happen?

Laura asks…

What is a healthy way to lose weight?

I want to lose 30 pounds before summer time. I want to do it with out using that medication or any sort of crap like that. Nothing that’s ridiculous please but any ideas will help 🙂

Exercise is good for you in a great many ways, but by itself does little for weight loss. If you work out very hard you will use more energy, but you are also hungrier and eat more.

No matter how hard you work, to lose weight you MUST limit your caloric intake to less than what it takes to stay the same weight (yes, that means dieting.)

Here is a good site that helped me lose weight with a good method and tons of tips:

How to lose the last of baby weight before summer?

It’s all about being a caloric deficit and speeding up your metabolism with many meals per day and exercise. Diet, however, is the primary factor in weight loss.

Go here (calorie calc):
Figure out how many calories you need to stay where you are right now, then cut 500-1000 from that. That’s all you can have every day. Space this out between 4-6 meals, eating every 3-4 hours. You can cheat one meal a week, but only one meal and be sure to really cheat when you do or you’ll try to make up for it with other meals. Make a calorie sheet and write down everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, you eat or drink that has calories. Basically, everything except water. Make sure it adds up to whatever number you got earlier. Be sure to recalculate every few weeks as you lose weight. This will keep you accountable, so that you will not over eat.

Start running, swimming, biking, etc. Whatever you pick, do it 3-6x a week. Work up to 30+ minutes straight and don’t wuss out on the intensity.

Hey 🙂 I just found this awesome article on “the science behind weight loss”. I got it from but I’ll paste it here to save you the trouble:

“Your body needs a certain amount of calories each day to maintain performance of normal activities, such as walking, breathing, sleeping, and thinking. Depending on your size, your body will require a different amount of calories each day.

On the flip side, if you eat too few calories your body will think its starving. This phenomenon goes back to the days of the caveman, when cave people weren’t really sure when or where they would find their next meal. The body learned to store excess calories as fat for future use. Well, we no longer live like that as we, fortunately and unfortunately, have unlimited access to food thanks to modern conveniences. What this means is, if you’re not eating enough calories your body will store the calories it does get as fat rather than trying to burn those calories. That sounds counterproductive, and it is. That’s why it’s important to feed your body regularly with the right amount of calories from the right sources.

One pound of fat equals about 3500 calories of stored energy. To lose weight you need to eat fewer calories each day or get your butt to the gym and burn off those calories. It’s that easy – you don’t need to be a mathematician to lose weight, you just need to start taking a look at some of your daily habits. Losing weight could mean shaving an extra 250-500 calories off your daily intake. Start your morning with a tall latte? Just one Vanilla Latte could pack an extra 250+ calories onto your daily caloric intake. By simply substituting your latte with regular coffee or green tea you could reduce your caloric intake substantially. If you want to try more exercise, calorie-burning activities such as walking to work, going for a jog with a friend, or taking the kids on a bike ride are all fun and easy ways to increase your daily activity level.

It is also important to remember that you need to eat the right calories from the right sources to lose weight and to maintain your weight loss. A meal of jelly beans and ding dongs that equals your daily caloric needs will not help you lose weight because these types of food are not nutrient sources that your body can use efficiently.

Eating right is a vital component of any weight loss plan, but it’s also very important to ensure that you get enough exercise. Combine aerobic exercise activities (also know as cardio) like walking, jogging or cycling with weight training (it doesn’t have to be anything too intense, but it helps a lot to lift some weights) to maximize your weight loss.”

I really like how this explains weight loss! Also while I was searching around I found this fantastic video which you should definitely check out, has a pile of great tips for how to shed the pounds:

I really hope this helps, the fact that you’re looking for help is a great start!

Good luck 🙂

Donald asks…

Can you give me some tips for loosing weight?

I want to shed some pounds before the summer. I don’t have much time for a lot of vigorous exercise. What should I eat a lot of and eat the least? How many calories should the average person intake?

Power Health Tips answers:

Eat a well balanced diet with proper portions, drink plenty of water, and get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. Keep away from fried, greasy foods and sweet, sugary foods. Eat protein at every meal and fiber, if you can. How many calories depends on your age, gender, and present size, height and weight. Read all you can on weight loss and do the things that work for you. Don’t worry about what experts tell you to do, just do what makes sense for you. Even small changes can make a big difference. I did and lost 75 pounds.

Sandra asks…

Another weight loss question, I am 15 and want to lose weight before the summer. Any tips?

I am 15 years old i weigh 145 and am 5’8. My BMI is 22.04, which is on the upper range of “Normal”. I want to lose my love handles and the small bit of excess fat just behind my hips. I have tried targeting my obliques during my daily ab workouts. I ran cross country, but the season ended, i also play lacrosse and have obtained a lot of muscle mass from this. I take a run once a week, when I have time. Please help, I don’t feel comfortable with the weight I am now. I want to love my body, but i just feel fat. Any tips?

Power Health Tips answers:

Eat healthier and obtain a steady diet. Incorporate various cardio exercises. Take care of your body and it will take care of you.

Mary asks…

Does this sound like a good diet plan to lose weight?

Ok, I am 22 years old…5’8″ tall….and I weigh 165 lbs. I want to lose 30 lbs before next summer comes. I don’t have the money to pour into these weight loss plans and groups and diet pills and remedies!! I have to do it the old fashion way. So here is the diet I am thinking.

Breakfast: 1 orange and a glass of 1% milk
Snack: Homemade Fruit Smoothie
Lunch: 1 can of Progresso Soup (I love these!!!!)
Snack: Cheese Slices with Crackers and lowfat Ranch
Dinner: 500 calorie meal
Late Night Snack: 1 orange and a glass of 1% milk

And if I exercise atleast 30 minutes a day on an eliptical machine.

Do you think I can lose 1-2 pounds a week with this diet or am I dreaming? I really want to lose weight but I don’t want to have to go to extremes. Please give me your honest opinion. I appreciate all your help and tips. Thanks!!!
I see alot of you recommending weight watchers. I need to be able to stick to a dinner that all my family will enjoy. My husband works all day and me and the kids eat different lunches but we all sit down and eat dinner together. It’s to much of a hassle to cook 2 different dinners. What kind of food does weight watchers entail. Thanks for all the tips I’m getting!!

Power Health Tips answers:

I think it sounds really good and sensible – not like some people who have decided to survive on diet coke.

Maybe cut out the Cheese Slices on Crackers and have fruit instead? And drink lots of water because it makes your appetite lessen!

Good luck 🙂

I want to loose at least 20-30 pounds by summer witch is in about three months, when I get put of school. I’m 171 pounds, but it’s more muscle than fat so don’t get the idea that I’m fat. I’m on a diet but I’ve been eating the same foods and I wanted some other food choices and any excercises that would help. Please and thank you.
