any extra tips to lose weight and how to keep it off for christmas?

at the moment im 5 foot 3 and weight 9 stone, but i want to get back to 8 and a half, i eat healthy apart from the odd biscuit a day and i go to the gym at least 3 times a week. the thing is the weight isn’t coming off and i desperately don’t want to put any on over christmas.
can anybody give me some tips please.

p.s on an average day i eat in between 900-1200 cals.

You won’t lose weight using a Low Calorie Dieting Plan either. In fact, eating low calories is the worst thing that you can do to your body, since that will only slow down your body’s fat burning engine and ruin all chances of losing weight. Low calorie diets may allow a few pounds of weight loss for the first few days, but then after that all weight loss comes to a halt, known as a dieting plateau. You can never get slim by starving yourself. A healthy weight loss program is one, which does not make you lose weight in such a manner that your health is spoiled. Starvation is not a worthy way to lose weight because most people will fail to abide to the program rules after a certain period.

A year ago after a successful weight loss plan, now at 120 pounds, it is a major difference. I’ve lost 30 pounds in the first month. The most significant change in my life is the amount of energy I now have and the way my clothes fit loosely. Everyone close to me and people I haven’t seen in a while are amazed and tell me that I look really good. This is a life changing experience for me although at first I was skeptical about the weight loss plan.

OMG same-I LOVE CHOCOLATE been eating more and more over xmas! But the thing is i have WILL POWER and if i say to myself no i will get fat, i imagine myself as a “sumo” [[lol]] and then yeah…. I try a healthy alternative instead!!

Well I’ve frankly gained a lot of weight and im starting to get uncomfortable with it. im 16, 5 foot 3 and 111.5 pounds, I want to get down to 105(I used to weigh 93) by christmas. possible? i have swim practice 4 days a week and rock climbing 1 day a week. how many calories should I eat? any tips?

That is perfectly healthy and realistic goal. It is safe to lose 2-3 pounds a week. At that rate, the weight is likely to come off and more importantly stay off. Since there are about three week until Christmas, you should be able to make 105 easy.
Best tip i can give is to drink water. Drink a tall glass of water a half hour before each meal to reduce hunger. Try drinking a sip of water in between bites at meals. This will help you eat slower, and give your stomach time to send signals to your brain to let it know when to stop eating.

How to eat healthy when your family doesn’t?

I’m in college now, and I will be going baack home for Christmas soon. But while in college, I started to change my eating habits and now I eat very healthily. I used to eat junk food, fried food, and fast food like my family, but I havn’t had stuff like that for months.

How do I eat healthy when my family doesn’t? My mom, dad, sister, grandma… they all eat fried foods and McDonald’s and stuff. But how do I maintain my healthy eating style while I live amongst them?

Even if u r goin to home for christmas for 1 month still u can follow few tips and use some tricks for healthy.. Actually many of us take on a radical dieting change that we cannot live with. Most of us can afford to make a few small changes at a time, instead of changing everything at once – unless you are dieting under the guidance of your doctor or dietician.

Therefore, I propose a few small changes to your eating habits that will make sense. You do not have to change them all at one time.

Before I start giving care advice, I want to encourage you to research piggies alot before getting them. They are wonderful pets who can be a world and a half of fun. They are highly intellegent and very loving little creatures. They do, however, require care appropriate to their species. I also want to suggest finding some forums or Yahoo! Groups about piggies. They can be a wonderful help to you as you and your daughter are learning about her new pets and if they ever become ill. Ok, the following is a very basic care guide. There is much more to know about piggies, but I’d be here all day if I tried to cover everything.


Guinea Pigs need to be kept in well ventilated, draft free, solid bottom cages. Wire bottom cages can seriously damage your Guinea Pig’s sensitive feet and foot sores can be deadly. Their cages must be kept clean and dry or your Guinea Pig may get sick. Cedar and Pine shavings should be avoided as they have been found to cause liver damage and could kill your Guinea Pig. They may also irritate your Guinea Pigs respiratory system. A bedding made from paper, aspen shavings, kiln-dried pine, hay, or cloth is safer. IMPORTANT! Guinea Pigs need to be fed a diet of timothy-based Guinea Pig food to get the proper nutrition. They should also have a constant supply of timothy hay to help with digestion. IMPORTANT! Guinea Pigs need Vitamin C or they could get scurvy and eventually die. Most Guinea Pig foods have the Vitamin C required by your pet, other rodent foods do not. Vegetables high in Vitamin C given daily are a good way to ensure they are getting the Vitamin C they need. Guinea Pigs do NOT eat seeds naturally. They are grazers and feeding them seed mixes will make them unhealthy and could choke them. Plain pelleted food is healthier and safer and is typically even cheaper. They should be fed in a heavy bottomed food dish to prevent them from dumping their food on the bottom of their cage.

Guinea Pigs need a clean, constant supply of water. This is best given with a hanging water bottle so the Guinea Pig does not soil it’s water. The water bottle should be cleaned regularly with a small baby bottle brush.


Guinea Pigs only need baths if they get particularly dirty otherwise they keep themselves clean. Your Guinea Pig may be brushed with a soft cat brush to remove loose hairs. Long haired breeds need extensive grooming and are not recommended for beginners.


Always hold your Guinea Pig with two hands securely and supporting its body. Children should be supervised while handling any animal. Guinea Pigs should only be allowed out of their cages and allowed to play under supervision and in enclosed “piggy safe” areas.

How can i lose all interest from chocolate and turn to healthy stuff instead? And any interesting tips to lose weight quicker?

Difficult one.

Maybe eat more fruit? Fruit and chocolate both contain sugar but compare the size of a bar of chocolate and a piece of fruit, and the chocolate is much more energy-dense (i.e. Has more calories per lb) than the fruit.

The fruit will fill you up more. Nuts in moderation are also good.

The easiest way to do it is to lower your calories and start exercising. It’s basic math. If you burn more calories than you take in, you’ll lose weight. Stay away from weight-training as it will make you look bulky (you gain muscle under the layer of fat making you look bigger). Do cardio and eat healthy. Start by eating 1/2 portions or cutting out a major junk food in your diet like pop or chocolate. Definitely speak to a doctor or invest in a computer program like Calorie King so that you can monitor how much you are eating from each food group. If you starve yourself you’ll end up putting on more weight.

How can i stop my cocker spaniel from eating EVERYTHING?

I adopted a cocker spaniel from a shelter before christmas and everything seemed to be ok the first few days but now she eats EVERYTHING, cat poop human poop my 2 yr olds toys, preferably plastic ones, i know she needs more exercise than what she is getting but i don’t know the first thing about a cocker spaniels exercise needs. Anyone got some tips on helping her break these habits
