<p>The first method in dealing with stress in your own personal way is to learn how to relax. It might not be much but professionals and therapists agree that being relaxed while in the throes of stress can help you find solutions in getting rid of it. There are plenty of methods that can help you relax, and you can choose one that will suit you best. </p>

<p>It is true that the music soothes the savage beast, and your mind is nothing short of savage when under the influence of stress. <p>Meditation can certainly help in reducing the tension that builds up in your mind while under the influence of stress. Originally part of the pagan religion, meditation is now being incorporated by many professionals as a healthy resort to stress and problems. Try to find a quiet place in your mind or in your office. You may sit down or lie down. Focus on each and every single area of your body and commanding them to relax with your mind. You might feel slightly heavy after wards since you are internally focused. </p>
<p>Try to visualize an object or phrase a question in your mind. Focus on it as long as necessary. Fleeting thoughts and scenes will flash through but pay them no heed. After a while, your mind will stop projecting images and you will feel like as if you&#8217;re floating in total nothingness. You will feel refreshed after meditation and you will be ready to face stress in the face.</p>

<p>Another great technique to manage stress is to find an outlet for your mental and emotional burdens. Physical exercise can do wonders when dealing with stress and is incorporated by stress management clinics and workouts worldwide. </p>

<p>Learning to relax is a vital skill because our instinctive responses to stress are often more harmful than the stress itself. When things are not going as planned and we begin to feel the anxiety building up we have a tendency to overreact to some of the most insignificant situations. Think about the times you have endured stress just by thinking about something that might happen. My Mother used to tell me that I was just borrowing trouble when I did this and now I can see how right she was. We are going to learn some techniques we can use that will help us deal with or even avoid stress altogether while helping us to enjoy some relaxation in our hectic lives.</p>
<p>Relaxation is that wonderful feeling you have when the pressures of life seem to be non-existent and you have a positive mental outlook about your surroundings, your work and the day ahead of you. Relaxation is really a wonderful feeling and we all should make concerted attempts to enjoy the peaceful feelings that relaxation invokes. Reducing stress, creating peace of mind and just easing all the tension throughout your body has so many positive affects on your life.</p>
<p>Meditation is one way to bring about a sense of calmness, quietness and peaceful relaxation. Meditation allows the mind to settle down and really experience an inner state of calmness. When you use meditation on a regular basis, after a short amount of time you will begin to notice an improvement in your memory and your problem solving skills. The more you use meditation to help yourself relax the easier it becomes to bring yourself to that peaceful state of mind. Using meditation on a daily basis will help you to focus more on the positives in life, you will notice an increase in your creativity and you will find joy in the small things in life. The use of soothing music such as the sounds of nature or symphonic harmonies are perfect for relaxing your mind allowing you to enter that peaceful meditative state.</p>
<p>The use of visualization is another powerful tool that you may use to rid yourself of stress and bring about true relaxation. To effectively use visualization you should find yourself a place where you can be alone with no noise around you. Close your eyes and try to quite your mind then vividly imagine that you are in the most peaceful place you can think of, picture that place in your mind. Completely immerse yourself in the picture as though you are really there experiencing the whole event involve all your senses, feel the wind, imagine how it smells, hear all the sounds allow yourself to be a part of the scenery. The practice of visualization is so powerful it can remove you from the stress of real life in a matter of moments. Practice it often as the more you use it the easier it becomes to relax and really get yourself swept up into a beautiful fantasy. I visualize the perfect outcomes of many events in my life, the more you visualize something the easier it becomes for your sub-conscious mind to accept the visualization as reality.</p>
<p>Slow easy stretching is a wonderful exercise to use to bring you into a state of complete relaxation. When we become stressed our muscles tighten up and get sore leaving you uncomfortable and tense. Slowly stretching the muscles and tendons loosens you up in a couple of ways, first it stretches the muscles helping you to feel like your not all tied up in knots and just the act of stretching takes your mind off anything that may have been causing you stress. Stretching exercises can be done almost anywhere and while your stretching you can add to your relaxation by adding visualization as you perform your stretches. Now you have connected the body and the mind which helps to bring about a complete state of relaxation.</p>
<p>Muscle relaxation is a very effective technique that involves concentrating on one muscle group at a time. When using this technique you focus on tightening and then relaxing the muscle group. Using this method helps to take your mind off any worries you might have and it allows you to focus on the physical sensation of bringing your muscles to a state of relaxation. You should start tensing and relaxing your muscles in your toes then your feet and progressively work your way up through all the muscles in your body in a methodical pattern. You should tense your muscles for five to ten seconds and then relax for 30 seconds then repeat this process for every muscle group. You will find this exercise to be very relaxing and stress relieving as it frees your mind from the pressures of the day.</p>
<p>Bringing yourself to a state of total relaxation takes practice but the benefits you will receive such as stress relief make it all worthwhile. Whether you have a lot of stress in your life or a little and you believe you have it under control, you can always benefit from the many types of relaxation techniques. The use of soothing music such as the calming sounds of nature will only enhance the benefits you receive from using these forms of relaxation. Music therapy itself has the strong ability to bring you into a peaceful state of relaxation or to help you avoid stress altogether by playing it in the background while at work in the car or at home.</p>

<p>Overcoming anxiety really involves assessing the factors that have caused this problem to take root on your very being.  Are you the individual who works hard at your job?  Do you have a family to support, bills to pay, and a mortgage on a home?   Are you a student taking a heavy course load each semester in pre-med, engineering, or business university-level classes?  Are you the type of individual who is on the go for what seems like 18 hours a day?  Do you push yourself daily to get things done, wishing that you just had more time to accomplish what needs to be completed?   Friend, if this describes you, then realize one important factor:  You are placing a heavy burden both physically and mentally on your very being.</p>
<p>As you go through the rigors and pressure that you put on yourself daily, you become over-stimulated to the point that anxiety creeps into your being.  Your stress level will slowly go through the roof as you worry that you are not accomplishing all that you think needs to be completed daily.  A failure to properly deal with stress and the pressures that you put on yourself could lead to it becoming an anxiety disorder.  </p>
<p>Here are some tips to help you learn to control the amount of stress that you have in your life.  </p>
<p>Tip#1:  Talk to your doctor.  Whether you have stress over the pressures in your job, or become agitated over the concerns regarding any financial or health situations that you are dealing with; this strain causes your brain and nervous system to become over-stimulated.  These factors, (many of them very negative) lead to high levels of anxiety.  A prolonged period of anxiety in your life, could lead to your being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.  Worse yet, anxiety could also result in physical damage to your body; high blood pressure, (which could lead to strokes), stomach ulcers, or even potential and lethal heart attacks.  If you experience high level of anxiety which have become a part of your everyday existence, please consult a physician immediately.       </p>
<p>Tip#2:  Many people in today’s hectic world push themselves to a state of constant overdrive, 24/7.  I bet that includes you as well, am I right?  When was the last time that you exercised?  Can you recall the last time that you worked out?  By exercise, I do not mean running down the hall to attend a staff meeting that you’re already 3 minutes late in getting to.  Exercise helps to work the part of our body that is closely associated with the cardiovascular system.  Adding a regular work out system to your schedule, (even walking a couple of miles, 3-4 times weekly) has been proven scientifically to reduce the level of stress in the body, in addition to the benefits to your cardio system that I mentioned earlier.  Exercise would also benefit you in one other important way: You will be able to manage your weight better through physical activity.</p>
<p>Tip #3:  Conversely from an exercise program, the body also benefits by relaxation.  The body needs activity through working out.  Conversely, it also needs rest.  Getting into a program involving yoga, meditation, and other slow-breathing exercises allows the body to “wind down”.  When was the last time that you sat on your sofa or rocking chair and turned on the stereo in your living room entertainment center to some quiet, soothing classical music?   In order to cope with, and overcome anxiety you need to allow your brain and nervous system to be soothed through periods of relaxation.</p>
<p>Tip#4:  Monitor your diet.  Ingesting too many junk foods and caffeine has been known to make it harder for the body to function properly.  Drastically reduce those trips to MacDonald’s weekly.  Eliminate eating those delicious cakes and pies for dessert, usually accompanied by a bowl of ice cream.  These ingredients contain high levels of sugar content.  High levels of sugar also contain toxins, (or bad chemicals) that are harmful to the body.  You should plan on drinking at least 8 full glasses of purified or filtered water daily.  Water helps the body to flush toxins out of its system.  You may also experience periods of restless, and fitful periods of sleep if you suffer from anxiety attacks.  Sleep in a cool, quiet room and try using some of the relaxation techniques that you would learn from the tip above to improve your quality of sleep.  </p>
